So after many years of trying to find places close to me to ceramic coat I finally found a place 1.5 hrs way :meh:

I will be bringing a header mud pipe and tailpipe to him to get coated

Then I kinda thought about the muffler ... Hmmmm

I had a SS one made several years ago... But... It rusted :meh:

Now I have a stock Toyota muffler ... I am told they are aluminized ... And used to use them they normally last 6 years or so... SS lasted about 6 as well

Thoughts on getting the muffler ceramic coated?

Not sure if they have acoustic stuff inside... My last oem muffler that rotted out I didn't notice any ...but... It was pretty well gone and could have blew out lol

Now that I'm thinking I may get the muffler band and muffler bracket done

Thoughts ?

Pics ... Since we all like pics :)

I had the exhaust on one of my motorcycles ceramic coated years ago and still holding up well. They coated the inside and outside. If you want they can probably just coat the outside of the muffler but if your clamps are stainless steel I wouldn't bother with them.

We are spoiled out West here.......I have heard that ceramic coating is great for heat retention on headers. I think it is a great idea!!!

thats going to be sweet.

I am hoping for long lasting :)

Sweetness is an added bonus lol

Move to the west coast!

My wife has her heart set on Maine when I retire :meh: more cold and salt ... Hence the need to ceramic coat lol

I was working on her to move to SC ... Absolutely love it there ... Civil war buff (pre cruiser days lol)

The clamps are stainless steel ... I had read people doing bike exhausts and mufflers ... The cruiser muffler is a bit longer ... aluminized and painted... I will need to inquire with the ceramic guy I guess to see if it's feasible for him to do

I had ceramic coated my triumph spitfire header ... It looked as good as if did almost 20 years later... Ceramic coating has many benefits... Just wish I had a place closer ... However I WILL give him
More business and send as many his way as possible if it comes out as nice as I had seen and used before :)

dropped off the tail pipe, mid pipe, and header to the ceramic coating place this morning... i had intended to get the brackets done... but... oldest son had bad asthma last night...I got 3 hrs sleep... forgot the brackets :(

but.... i did wake up in time to get there and back before work

will be doing it all in black

Johnny I hope your son is doing well today.

But really man you need to pack up the family and head out west, you'll love it here!

I had my Magnaflow y pipes coated with that Cerakote stuff and within a year they looked like crap. The exhaust manifolds look a lot better but certainly aren't pristine. I don't know, maybe the product doesn't work as well on stainless.

Was it done by a Certified Applicator? I would take it back. I bet they weren't coated right. That shouldn't happen.

This... I am a certified Cerakote applicator and I have stuff that is able too with stand up to 2000 degrees...

I do not know what he is using.... but.... he said it was good to 2000 deg as well

So crazy Johnny, I have bought mid 60's cruisers out here with the original exhaust system still in place!

LOL I have about 9 years (approx till retirement... but whos counting lol) soo that makes 9 years to convince my wife that west (or south) is better than north :)

I really dont care how they look.... as long as they last... my ceramic guy was going to blast them first and then coat them... did your guy media blast them?

he has the header and mid pipe that are SS... the tailpipe is steel... we'll see how they hold up in comparison over time

Here's what they look like now. I don't know if he media blasted the y pipe because it was brand new. He did blast the manifolds. Its too much of a pain to take them off to take back. Plus who knows if he'd do any better of a job. I may ask Cerakote what to do.

Wow... Most likely didn't prep right. I would call Cerakote and tell them about it... I get irritated when I see that happen.. It give Cerakote a bad name.

Boy ... Hope that doesn't happen to mine ...

That sucks that you went all out on your exhaust to have that happen... Wonder what could cause that?

Sounds like they are doing the same prep as my guy ... Unless they didn't do one step

To be fair, this was my guy's first attempt at this specific product from Cerakote. However he did assure me it was something he could do.

Johhny come out to Arizona you will love the wheeling here and LOTS of sweet 40's!!!!!!!!!!!
