Hey all

This is my first post, this has to be the global help desk for all Cruiser owners!

My issue:

Purchased a 105 series petrol in Feb this year. Regret it each day after selling my turbo 80.

The central locking unlocks all doors perfectly, no issue there using keys in each key hole or switches inside or the FOB transponder.

It doesn't however lock! I have to lock each door manually.

There is a relay click when I try lock the doors from the LH kick panel (RHD Australian model) and after the click there is no movement of any lock.

Even with unlocking I hear a click and all doors unlock.

Interior lights go out, no open door light on.

If I hit lock with the door open and key in ignition it powers the door locks but no movement (I suspect it's actuating to open the locks)

All fuses are fine, I've sprayed WD40 almost everywhere. I've removed the body control module and sprayed it with WD40.

Toyota weren't able to figure it out, the auto sparky couldn't figure it out and said they could change the LH relay junction box but it can only be done with the dash out costing close to $3800 to replace both junction boxes and even then it couldn't be the issue.

Windscreen has been checked and no leaks.

Any ideas? I could live with it but I'm sure as car enthusiasts you too would toss and turn thinking about it every night.

Cheers
Nath

what i would do first... is pull one panel and I would measure the voltage and amps in each mode lock & unlock... if they were the same.... using another source of power I would power up that one lock both ways and see that it functions with applied power...
if that went well and the door lock motor performed as it should... and you didn't want to trace the lack of power and just wanted a fix... I'd buy a $16 remote door lock kit off ebay wire it in and just put an extra remote for the doors on my key chain before i spent $4k to fix it.....

the rear hatch on my 100series will not unlock if it's been in the sun (black truck) on a warm day... I just live with it :)

cheers

Ok have figured it out and it seems rare but hope this helps someone else.

Toyota were adamant it's the junction blocks on either kick panel and $5000 plus too fix.

Auto sparky diagnosed same issue $3000 fix.

If your locks work one way (unlock all doors but don't lock) and you can be sure no actuators are at fault, and you can hear the lock and unlock relays then it's your Body Control Unit.

Easy to get to, clips out with three plugs and is located above the stereo

you may have figured this out already, but fyi that's a symptom of the actuator gone bad. I replaced the one in my hatch and solved this issue. Easy and costs like $1

How much was the new Body Control Unit?

Is this a common issue?

Yeah, if you search for door lock actuator. Might even be in the FAQ. As the door lock motor starts to fail you notice it in hot weather first. I've had 2 door locks and the rear hatch do this. Get the whole assembly from Mr. T or the same motor and mcguyver in there per 'Mud. First thing I did on my own to my LX and how I found this site. @jonharis used to sell them, might be out of them though. That's where I got 'em.
