2 were starting to chip/fade & 2 were just fine. I think I got the problem fixed. Just had some friends colormatched them to the car. Paint code "1B2" for this particular color 40th Anniv.

Has anyone done something similar instead of repainting them silver again?

give em six months -- you'll be back where you started --

-- what's the coating you put on your tires?

mine's held up about a year now. Starting to chip a bit. I tried to paint the T emblem in the center black, but really just buggered it up, so painted all silver again and left it at that.

Mine are in my shop in a ziploc bag. They look really good there. I think the wheels look better without them. Photos are from Texas, pre-MTRs.

Hopefully, the paint will last a while. Afterall, they prepped it (sanded, primered, clearcoat) just like they would prep a car about to get painted. So I've got my fingers crossed that they last a while.

Eric,

I just use Original Armorall. The tires get dressed maybe once every 6 months.

Todd,
Tell me about the bracket that holds your hi-lift.

I've painted mine black and they have lasted very well (including offroading) to date

That looks like the kind that bolts to the spare tire wheel studs. On of the guys with me on Fins n things almost lost his on a steep departure.

Hi-Lift bracket...

That looks very much like the standard-issue Kaymar bracket. Never liked that mounting position myself, but haven't got a better solution as yet...

you could always rotate it 90 degrees ;)

I like the center caps painted to match the body and inside wheel openings but that leaves your lug nuts looking so unsavory...please let your sprinklers run until your yard is a seeping mass and roost that poor deprived truck through sum MUD

Kaymar product, as are the bumper and the swing out. Works very well, rock solid on the trail.

You can mount it as high or low as you want, within the limitations of the length of the jack. Sounds like he needed to mount his a good bit higher.

Not my yard. Go over to Trail Rides, check the LBL thread.

What's not to like about it? I think the Slee bumper mounts the jack at an angle if you prefer that.

His was up a good bit. It hung on him on a VERY steep departure. He could not pull off nor could he back up. He backed up about 2 inches and we removed the jack from the carrier and placed it in the back of the vehicle.

The main issue is that the jack is out there a ways and a steep departure will sometimes catch it. I'm not suggesting that the mount is not well made or effective, just that in some cases you are gonna hit.

I think it is sad that folks are painting centercaps and using amorall on their tires. Like ya'll wearing the pink panties or the yellow ones today? :flipoff2:
