Worth removing it to see if it's gunked up. Takes only about 15-20 minutes and you don't have to drop the tranny sub frame. I had the same problem where mine would not unlock and I was able to take it out and clean it up.

I’ll probably give it a try once I heal up my back, the annoying part is I didn’t intentionally engage it, I think the button was pushed while cleaning the interior.

Yep, that's how I accidentally engaged mine while I was wiping off some dust inside from a previous trip. I knew my diff lock was acting up and struggling to unlock so I stopped using it. I'm kind of glad I accidentally hit it because it forced me to fix it sooner than later.
