Hi, my 2000 L/C armrest cover is looking very worn. I ordered a new leather cover from cruiser parts.net Has anyone done the replacement of this cover? Any step by step instructions would be helpful. I don't know if this is a Toyota oem part or aftermarket. Anyway, any help would be appreciated like how to remove the lid from the center console and how to put the new cover on the lid. Thanks

The 100 series console lid is bonded together. Once you've got the lid removed and all the screws removed you'll need to separate the bottom from the top. This is done by prying the two apart with a wide pry tool and not damage the plastic lid. It will make a loud pop when it breaks apart.

Remove all the staples holding the cover in place and peel off the cover. It's glued on and will peel off.

Use the marks in the lid to center your new cover. Make sure its centered left to right and end to end. Mark it with tape. Do NOT use a pen as it will leach through.

Then spray each parts (lid and cover) with 3M spray glue. Allow to tack up and then lay in place and pull taught while smoothing it into place.

You must have a 2-part epoxy to re assemble. Once you've installed the cover (leather) and re installed the latch you can test fit. You will need a heavy object like weights, lead or clamps to hold both pieces together while epoxy cures. Once cured then you install.

Then re assemble and enjoy.

Have you used this part from them? Is it the same quality leather as the oem piece? How did you get the lid off of the console? Do you just unscrew the bolts that are seen when you open the console (looks like bolts holding the hinges on.

That leather cover we (Metric TLc) sell to Cruiserparts.net it's made from the original pattern and we sell lots of them without any issues. You can search the 80 section where leather replacement is more common.

There's several Phillips screws that you'll need to remove.

I assume that yours in tan.

I updated with pictures so you can understand a little better.

I wound up getting a whole lid assembly from the dealer I work for. Cost me 225.00 but I am super ocd and wasn't convinced that I could get the cover to work as good as original. Thanks for your help and the pictures

I'd be happy to do it for you and if not, I'll buy or trade you for your old one.

I know a little about OCD and a touch of anal.

How much for my old one. No rips just leather color faded where your arm goes. Also missing the 2 rubber bumpers in front and 1 rubber bumper at rear. I can send a picture later

Hi there, my 100 series console has no external screws visible? any advice how to get it apart - i don't want to break it

Hi, I was wondering if someone knows if you can replace the hook in the clip that holds down this lid. I have broken off the hook on my 2003 100 Series. Rather than replacing the hole lid $$$, I just need a new clip that holds the lid down from opening. This is seen in the picture with the snap on screw driver above ?

Super helpful. Thanks!

AATLAS1X - thanks for the info. I'm wanting to recover my center console like, but I'm having trouble separating the bottom and top of the lid. How hard is it to get the two pieces to separate? I'm afraid I'm going to break (in a bad way) before they break apart. Any suggestions, or should I just keep prying and hoping...

Thanks

I finally got mine separated. You just have to keep prying, and hoping it breaks in the right place. I had the most luck starting near the latch. Its difficult to get the pry bars in far enough where they can pull apart(separating the top and bottom), rather than simply trying to spread the edges (potential to cause the lid to break rather than separate from the bottom...).

Recovering in the corners near the latch was the hardest, but worked out ok...

Does anyone know where to the latch for the lid? Mine broke off

I just bought a 2000 LC and the latch for the upper center console lid is broken. Seems like you have to replace the whole lid....

Hi!

Same issue. Broken latch. Also broken hinge. I see the hinge is available (anyone know how to replace it?), but what about the latch? Still have to buy the whole lid for $650ish?
