looking for some gadget mount suggestions. I really like the modular style the company below has (can attach my Garmin, phone, go pro etc ) all with one mount. Problem is you have to screw it in and I am afraid old dash might just crack. Curious what mounts people have used/liked or if anyone has screwed in on dash above stereo without any issues ? Its an 02 LX 470 and has one small crack already that was hoping to cover up .

I tried to install the media mount but the last little screws in the cassette player would not come loose and the heads basically started to strip. Since I only wanted it for cell phone, I use this now and it’s fine

Suction cup Ram Mounts work VERY well. Made it through Baja and back without issue.

I hated the window suction cup mounts since I found it falling off after hitting a bump. I picked up a super solid mount at CVS for about 20$. It has adhesive that sticks to a planar surface in the car and comes with different sized magnets with an adhesive side for your phone, tablet, whatever it is you are using.

Ill attach a pic the next time I go to my car.

I used a yak attack track. I did this 3 years ago before ram had a track to offer. As solid as it gets, and my dash is fine.

I use a stick-on magnetic mount. It couldn't be simpler. A flat magnet either sticks on your phone or slips into your phone case. The mount sticks to the dash with adhesive. You can almost toss the phone at the magnet.

My 100 lives outside in the sun (it's 96 degrees right now) and the adhesive hasn't failed/moved yet - been there a couple years.

I just installed a Proclip with a modified Anker magnetic phone holder this weekend. I should have done this couple years ago. It's pretty solid and phone doesn't fall off anymore. I can adjust the tilt on the Anker.

Do you have any more pics of the mounting of this? I hadn't heard of proclip before and just looked them up. Pretty cool. Would be curious to see how it affixes in our trucks.

Right now I'm just using a vent clip with magnetic pad. It's good around town but on trails, the phone falls pretty easily. I don't love that it blocks my air vent. I'm also reluctant to unwilling to stick or screw anything in, so it might be what I'm stuck with.

That Proclip setup looks pretty awesome. I may have to order one.

I've been using the air vent mount below over the past year with good success. It has held up on washboard roads and moderate offroading, but nothing too serious. It places the phone in a convenient spot, but limits airflow and adjustability of one of the vents.

FYI I have same mount, works fine for me. On washboard or big bumps sometimes phone will slip. I put my phone sideways (landscape) and the bottom two corners rest on the dash, magnet still holds it in place, definitely helps a lot. See where I’m pointing in the photo. It slips a lot more when mounted portrait orientation (not resting on dash). I’m considering mounting a usb plug next to this so I don’t have to deal with the cord from the cigarette lighter.
