to match the house. T1-11 sucks, so i started putting cedar on my garage.

i have the front and one side done, i also have to put cedar under the deck on the original house, but i am going to have to rip off the deck first, and do some water proofing.

any how i still have some trim to do, and the back side of the garage.

pics...

before, i also have new garage doors ordered.

so i have 2 garage doors to replace, when they arrive.

the back side and the very back of the garage, it sticks out 8' from the original house.

and the original house under the deck, the T1-11 that i put under there about 4 years ago is trash, it is already rotten, from the amount of moisture that stays under there and water that runs down the siding.

that is why i am going to redo the deck, so i can get some flashing between the house and deck. so that will be done after the deck.

you also need to flash that trim piece over your new siding. T-11 covered by cedar will rot faster than T-11 exposed to the air. A housewrap would have been a good idea under the new cedar...

It looks a lot nicer though btw.

Personally, I would have pulled all that plywood off and put foam in it's place, then the cedar, maybe even over strapping depending on how much trouble it would have been to trim it out at the doors and windows.

..and clean your damned garage... (shudder)

like someone said above , clean your garage (almost looks like you took a pix of mine :o ). You also might want to do something with the dog that died in your drive before it starts to get "gamey" :hillbilly:

i am going to do flashing around the top, i did not house wrap it because it is my garage, that might have been a mistake, :meh:

and yes it needs cleaned out, and can be since the wife has the mustang, any one know where i might be able to sell some leberon parts?

the tricky thing is integrating the flashing behind the pre-existing siding. cedar also has natural tannins that when left untreated act as a surfactant and break down the surface tension of water causing it to become more viscous and penetrate successive claddings. next time backprime your cedar to avoid this.

:hhmm: thanks for the tip! the reason i am doing this, it we are going to stain and seal the house.

now to get it all done before fall.

Pfft. Why do once what you can do every few years?
