I sent one of my customers to CCOT for the rear factory heigh springs, shackles and shocks.

Sounds like the shocks they sent are for a 2 1/2 inch lift, when the truck is under full compression the shock bottoms before the axle hits the bump stop?

Also he mentioned that after a couple of weeks the rear springs have sagged below the front factory springs and they are nearly flat already?

I thought these springs looked to be well designed and would not os sent my friend/customer to them if I had known this would happen.

Anybody else have any feedback on these kits?

I put this kit on my 84FJ60 about a year ago. They were supposed to be a bit stouter than the OEM springs that were 150K old. Also got the 2" hellforstout shackles and the BDS shocks and new bushings. They were awesome for about 2 months, and now sit below the front and I hit the bump stop whenever I go over significant bumps with people in the back seat. Ride is still god if I'm the only one in the cruiser. I have no mods on the cruiser. CCOT and I talked till I offended them, hoping for a replacement set, or an admission that they were inferior springs. NO go. Had done plenty of business with them before but NO more.

I run OME shocks(for 2.5" lift) on my 90 fj62 with stock springs..........NO issues, run the same on my mustard fj40, stock springs. Guess I am saying that I would be suprised even if the shocks are for a lifted cruiser that there would be issue on a stock height cruiser............well at least not on mine.

never experienced the hfs, but i can assure you that my pinnacles are inferior. it's nice to have a warning to avoid the hfs though. rode in a friend's cruiser with bds, little stiff, but otherwise nice...i may have to do either that or alcans come tax time...this pinnacle is crap.

i thought that hfs was made by the company as bds, just to ccot specs? anybody else hear this?

Yep, I read that too. I don't know what they do different w/ the HFS but it must make them suck. :censor:

they may be made by the same company (most springs are), but they are built to specs requested by their customers...in this case, ccot.

I installed the BDS kit about three months ago, and I am verry happy with it. Most people seem to think that it's stiff, but so far, it has been a great ride. The springs havn't sagged at all. I am running 33x12.5 tires and 1" shackles.

if i was u i would go for the old man emu shocks ive had them for about 3 years and they arent saggin at all and ive been beating the he!! out of them :)

Don't mean to poke fun, because this is a high dollar item, butt ...

"Why is everyone always comparing their brand 'X' springs to OME ?"

Or is that e'nuf said ?

Just curious,
Cahil

I think it has been said by most that the OEM kit is of high quality, thier will be others who say otherwise.

Price is the big issue with the OEM, they try and keep these kits at a level price so all vendors are on the same playing field.

This is my take on the spring designs sold, we have had several springs made by a local shop with decent results. If you extend the schackle anlge out to a more relaxed postion the ride is much smoother.

I think you compromise the longevity of the spring by doing this, its kinda the give and take thing.

We once built a kit to the exact spec as a OME and it turned out great, I now understand why they mark all thier springs at all four corners. We eneded up pulling the drivers rear spring and arcing it a slight bit more to get the rig level.

Almost two years later we can comfortably say it has held up well under moderate wheeling. It absolutly shines on fast fire roads with one foot or deeper pot holes.

As for the CCOT rear springs on my frieds truck, he has had them re arced and they are better for the momment.

I hope to hear from him that CCOT did the right thing on the shocks, since they did sell him factory height springs with lift shocks?

CCOT and I talked till I offended them, hoping for a replacement set, or an admission that they were inferior springs. NO go.

hmmmm.....maybe they're related to Dubya (George W): he seems to have the same problem with denial and truth......

Dear CCOT Customer Service Dept,
I recieved this today along with photos, those rear springs look about the same as my dead flat 1985 BJ60 springs and half of them were broken?

The saga continues... Two things here:

CCOT HFS SPRINGS AND SHOCKS:
As per my e-mail yesterday regarding the lack of arch with my new springs and the lack of compression travel in my rear shocks, I have included some pictures I took last night in case you think I'm slightly derranged. Sorry for the poor quality of the pics but I think the flatness of the rear springs and lack of travel in the shocks is rather obvious anyways. I am fully prepared to uninstall the springs and shocks and ship them back to you or to re-arch these rear springs at the local spring shop. Either way, I don’t feel that this is an expense that I should incur personally as the springs do not have the levelling ability claimed by CCOT.

SHIPPING ERROR (again):
On a related note, your package of the correct shock boots and sway bar extension kit did arrive last night but also included a rediculous customs bill of $85.31 CDN. Upon inspection it turned out your shipping dept valued the sway bar kit and the 4 shock boots at $251.48 CDN (about $191.00 US). The parts have a total value of roughly $36.00 US. Again, a little dissapointed by this latest turn of events. Can you please refund me $85.31 CDN on my credit card. If you will recall, this package was sent to me because you guys messed up the first time with your shipment.

So, to recap. I need a decision from you guys regarding the rear springs and I need $85.31 CDN refunded on my credit card for your shipping error.

Thanks for your assistance,
Simon Bright

PS. I did a lot of research on you guys on the list serves before purchasing. Consensus seemed to be that you guys now have excellent customer service. I'm trying to be really polite about this whole fiasco but I'm starting to get a little upset by this (in Canadian, this means I've reaching my limit eh?). I have an expensive set of springs that don’t do what they're supposed to! Although the shackles are very cool.

The sad part is I also dropped a couple hundred last week with these guys...........

Should of spent my money at Marvs Shop at least he deals with his customers and I have not had one problem with a shipment.

ccot springs

Good info , just in time ,almost ordered the HFS springs for my 89 fj62. Think I'll save up for Alcans they sound like quality springs.

I ordered the HFS ~3" kit + 1-1/2" shackles last week and it showed up Monday or Tuesday when I was out of town. After reading this, I wish I had gone with something else, but I am going to give it a go with my fingers crossed. Will let everone know if it is a crap product or not.
