Has anybody else ordered a head gasket from Cool Cruisers? I just got mine, and it appears I'll have to cut out five or six of the water holes myself. Could this be right? Has anybody else heard of having to cut holes in a head gasket? Apparently, it's a gasket designed for other configurations, but for my '87 2F I need all the holes open. I tried today to drill a hole out with a hole saw, but when I hit the inner metal layer it got off center and mangled some of the adjacent asbestos material. I'm going to insist they give me my money back, because this is rediculous. I guess I'll break down and buy a Toyota gasket, even though they're about $50 more.

Any suggestions?

First, are you sure they are water jacket holes? Does it not match up with your old one? The only options are F and 2F. (well 3f OK) the F and 2f ar ethe same except for the oiler hole by number 5 piston. OEM or NAPA are the ways to go. Sounds like you got a bum gasket from CCOT

There are five or six holes that are marked to be cut out but are not cut out, and each of them has a corresponding hole in the block and in the head for water flow. I ran my truck for aobut a week with the identical gasket with these holes not cut out. But I blow a radiator hose (possibly from built up pressure caused by the gasket?), then it overheated, and I blew the gasket.

I'm calling them today. I'll tell you guys what happens.

I'm probably going to go with OEM.

So nobody else has seen or heard of these head gaskets from Cool Cruisers? If I'm out of line for demanding my money back, I want to know it.

I wanted everybody to know that I contacted Cool Cruisers and they gladly refunded my money. I'm not sure about their head gaskets, but they were very cooperative. I ordered a different gasket today from Napa.
