So I am trying to map out what is going where. I got the Uniden 520XL. Suggestion is to mount it right next to me to the console by emergency break. I believe it is small enough to fit into the ashtray spot. Would you post some Pics of where you have your CB?

Thanks Chachie

Tuffy console for me. Out of the way when it's not needed.

What model of Cruiser do you have? On my 80, i removed the sorry excuse for a cupholder on the side of the console and used the factory holes to mount the bracket for my uniden. It does not interfere with the operation of the emergency brake handle. The CB is also easy to remove and hide if I need to, although I don't think anybody steals CB radios anymore.

Removed the cup holder and mounted the 520. No problem with hand brake.

You can leave the cup holder where its at and mount the Uniden. I have the exact same setup. Its very easy to run the coax and power wires from the dash, down through the shifter area, then underneath the console. If you put it in the ashtray you have to do some cutting and it won't be reversible.

I fit my Cobra in the dash (ashtray) of my 97LX. It requires a bit of trimming of the opening on the sides, but I really like this location as it looks stk.

I am doing this in my 93 right now. It's not supposed to fit but I'm fixing that.

Due to this thread that's exactly what I just did. Nothing's mounted at all, just stuck in there. I have the Uniden 510 and a cheapo SWR/Power meter side by side. I do have to lift the SWR meter slightly to operate the hand brake, but since I hardly ever use it it's no biggie.

I'd like to see it when your done. The remodelled bezels for the iPad mini that you have done are incredible.

I won't be able to use both ashtray mounting points, just the right one. And there may be some interference with the right switch. For now it will just be a switch blank anyway so not too worried about. Next is to do the iPad Mini mount.
