Never used my CB until Saturday when I discovered that its not working. Took a look around while installing an oil pressure gauge and took note of a few things. First, I dont really know what the hell Im doing with all the knobs on the front of it. It gets power and lights up like it should. If I press the button on the mic, the needle moves on the gauge which I am assuming is a good thing. The antenna is hooked up properly. I get absolutely nothing when I turn the squelch knob. No static or anything. I know the mic works because I can yell at people through the PA system (I could always use this on the trail to talk to people but that might just get old). Lastly, its a Cobra 25 LTD Classic.

Im not too sure of its age and since I didnt install it, I cannot eliminate poor installation as the cause. So, anyone have any ideas? Is it toast?

not knowing the history the PO may have keyed the mic without the antena thats what hapened to my old CB and was told it was toast.

(If this info is wrong someone please chime in cause I would like to fix my old CB.)

Yep, ED will take care of you

Hey Derelict,
The next time you're going to be in Burke, let me know and I will take a look. I have all of the test equipment to check it out.
Ed

Sweet. I appreciate it. I can be in Burke either on Saturday or Sunday, whichever works best for you. I know exactly zip when it comes to radios.

Sam & Derelict
Saturday works for me. Sometime around 1:00 would be good. I am planning to go to the car show at GMU in the morning. Link
Sam, you know where I live. Derelict, I'll send you a PM.

Yep, that happens. With no antenna the power that is supposed to be radiated by the antenna turns into heat in the transmitter circuit and "toasts" things. :bang:

I can take a look, it may be repairable.

Thanks for the kudos, :)
Ed
