So who is going to go out and buy another CB radio lol
That is the sole intent for the CB companies advocating for FM. They have seen a decrease in sales over the years and determined FM abilities will reboost sales for those specific companies.

Here is a HAM operator opinion regarding the swap.

Won’t this make CB more relevant through increased capabilities?

Marginally. Question is also will they make am/fm mode rigs, or fm only. Doesn't matter, I dispensed with all but one basic cb radio to comm with other trail buds

Well not technically legal for 10m/12m rig is able to.

My Anytone AT6666 can do AM/FM/SSB.

Those that don't know 11M unlock is literally 3 button pushes. With my MFH 1610, I can tune between 10m/11m with an allen key.

More importantly, channel bleed is going to be horrible. 1/2 the 38+ crew are using SSB the other half AM. Can't wait till FM comes into play it is a mess.

The Europeans have enjoyed the FM band for a long time on their CBs.
It's about time this would happen here too.
Another step towards making HAM license-free.

So does anybody know when we might see this change in the radios brought to market?

I'm sure the over-seas crap will show up at some point. I think that Uniden, etc., will wait it out.
