Good catch! I was just replying with my argument about springs "not" decreasing performance and luckily spotted your post before I stretched my mouth with my size 14's AGAIN! I was refering to a "spring mount". I stand corrected as "spring wire" antennas are not the same as the "spring mounts" that I got on a high horse about.
A high quality fiberglass antenna will out perform a quality stainless steel antenna when new but after injury's from branches, parking garages, etc.....the SS antenna will still remain largly as it was when new while the fiberglass' performance dwindles.
As most know, antenna and cable selection is more important to ANY CB's performance than the CB's selection itself!
