(still in the learn & do phase)

Did body fill with Duraglass and finished with duraglass (polyester) glazing putty.

Sanded to fine finish & wiped w/ denatured alchohol (hmmm, might have used lacquer thinner....) & let dry well.

Did not use primer.

Painted with OMNI AE MAE.

Two months later, I have some bubbles (blisters ? ) only in the area where I did body work. Other areas ( painted on existing, sanded, paint) don't have them.

It's like an air bubble under a vynil sticker; paint is flexable, bubbles moves a little when pressed upon...

The Question : What causes the bubble ?

Thanks
Pete

I've never tried painting directly over body filler without primer, but it's a case of adhesion definitely. You either have poor adhesion, or rust. Guess you named the problem up front. Primer is porous and accepts the paint with a good grip.

Hey MR. Soggs,
Is there a picture or thread with your freshly painted cruiser?
