On my '85 I've been debating removing the catty, but have heard both sides of the coin.......22R will run better/22R needs the catty for back-pressure. My 22R is carbed and bored .030. What are your experiences and/or recommendations?

Well, I ran my mini without one for a couple years (registered it in Newport!). Finally I put one on again and I noticed no power loss at all. I used a universal one from catco.
The biggest issue was the poor smelling exhaust with out it.

Sluggish engine performance, rotten egg smell. If you get a new one, it will be way more effecient and will flow better. I can see through the new one, but when the old one came off, It was clogged and terrible looking.
