I have a 5x8 Carry On (Lowe’s) and I am thinking about having a frame welded to it to put my RTT on.

I have 16 or 17” wheels I can put on it...haven’t decided, but probably put the 16s on it. I bought the spacer adapters to adapt the trailer hubs to the bolt pattern of the wheels. I will have to cut off the fender and have another one fabricated once the tires are mounted.

My question is....will I need any other spacers to have space for the tires? I haven’t gotten the tires yet....but once I replace the tires on my 100 I will have a few 275/70/16s I could use. Is there a tire that would fit easier?

This won’t be an off-road trailer....more like a way I can easily use/store the RTT and carry kayaks/canoes when we camp. So I should be good with the stock axle....can always upgrade that later if needed.

The lug pattern are the same 5x150 on the 16 and 17 wheels. Plan is to put the 17s on the LC and put the 16s on the trailer.

The spacer adapters for the trailer (in order to put the 16s on it) are 1.25” spacers.

I am not sure of the backspacing.

It sounds like you need to research the back spacing on the trailer wheels, as well as the 16s (or just use a tape measure from WMS to the edge of the wheel). I don't recall the backspacing offhand on Carry On wheels, but, depending on the 16s backspacing, it sounds like it should work, especially with the adapters.
