I think I need to either rebuild my carb or get a new one. Should I get a non smog usa carb or have mine rebuilt. How do I get a hold of the Jim C. guy every one talks about? Any advantages of the nonusa carb over the rebuild by Jim C? Any advantages when using the vacuum advance distributor? thanks, bryan

No advantage unless you do a complete and thorough de-smog, including the use of a non-us distributor, and you don't have to pass a visual or tail-pipe emissions test. All your emissions systems work in concert. Otherwise, I would say to rebuild your carb and keep everthing in top running order.

I had mine rebuilt locally without complaints.
Here's Jim's email: FJ40Jim@aol.com

If you're going the de-smog route, he can set it up for you that way too.

So, is there a contact number for Jim? Also, you are stating that the carb I currently have will be satisfactory with a desmog?

Yes, your carb can be modified for a de-smogged setup.
