I am replacing my junk weber carb with an asin. The carb did not come with the spacer block that seperates the carb from the intake manifold. Ihad a friend machine one one for me but he could not do a "D" shaped hole. Is both holes being round going to make a difference?
As always thank you in advance.

It's made from phenolic, It should handle both the fuel and heat. I know it looks like wood in the picture.

Any one got an opinion on this? I think from the marks on the old spacer it should work. If any one has a reason it wont work please tell me now.

Well, on one hand, the oval shape of the original may help with the scavenging effect. But that port just inlets PCV fumes...so Pighead does not see a problem with a round hole. Wiser folk will chime in here any second now to prove me wrong.

Jim,

Doesn't the phenolic unit provide some degree of heat insulation between the manifold and the carb base whereas this metal unit will transfer all of that heat into the carb? Could he use some type of fiber gasket between this block and the carb or block and manifold to ease that problem without creating a vacuum leak?
