im looking to see if anybody has a breakdown diagram of a carb for a 2f motor out of an 85 fj 60

this is the parts diagram. If you're going to rebuild, you should get a copy of the 2F engine manual.

where do you get all those diagrams. i appreicate the one you sent about the charcoal canister. that is how i figure out why it was leaking fuel out the bottom of the canister. the float is stuck and just dumping fuel into the canister i believe. thanks

have you ever rebuilt a 2f carb. is it a pain in the ass. ive rebuilt quadra jets and some holley carbs. Or should i just find some one to rebuild it in the phoenix area

I have a set of the parts microfiche that someone scanned to PDF. You can also get access to this information online at ToyoDIY. However, the pictures don't cut, paste & scale as well as the PDF ones do...

I have rebuilt my 2F carb. It's got a lot of small parts that you have to keep track of. This is where the 2F engine manual comes in helpful. Also, there are some special tools that are recommended. One tool is for removing the main jets. It's like a screwdriver. If you're careful, I don't think you need it. The other tools are used for making adjustments, such as how far closed and open the throttle and choke plates go. Whether you need these probably depends on the condition of your carb and how well it is/was running.

I've also had my carb rebuilt by Jim C.--this was a "spare" carb I got from cruiserparts.net. Jim did a great job. The carb was cleaned inside and out and ran great right out of the box (from Jim). If you have the money and want it done right the first time, then the general recommendation is to have Jim C. or Mark A. rebuild yours. To find someone local, you should probably check in with your local TLC club.

Both Mark A. (marksoffroad.net) and Jim C. (fj40jim on MUD) accept carbs by mail for rebuild. About 3 bills either place. And they can tweak it for either smog or no-smog motor. Well worth it, IMHO.

A carb rebuilt by Pepé Le Pew will cost you the same... Might as well have an expert do it.
