Can you put a Warn 8000 winch on the ARB bumper without having to remove the bumper??

That's the question so I don't waste time trying to do it if it's not possible. Thanks in advance.

It's not easy holding that much weight in position to start the bolts but it can be done. Just don't forget to clock the lever end two teeth before you get it bolted up.

Yup. No problem.

I brought the winch up and aligned with the holes, used a rachet strat to hold it in place and put the four nuts in, then the fairlead, and then bolts and went away at it.

Again, yep-it's easier that way. Even an M12000 goes right in. An M8000 has to be taken apart on the planetary end and "clocked" enough to clear the clutch lever.

ditto - got an m10000 in without trouble using two ratchet straps.

not sure where the solenoid box goes on an m8000 but if it hoseclamped to the armature case then i suggest you loosen the clamps so you can easily rotate the box.

also, if the m8000 has the ground bolt on the side facing the bumper make sure you attach the ground cable to the winch before you bolt the winch to the bumper. ask me how i know

For the M8K, the lever side goes to the USDS side with the lever facing inward--towards the tranny cooler.

I initially could not find anyplace to install the solenoid box. Then I installed it on the USPS side of the ARB inside of it, upside down, drilled two holes from the top and planted it. What I found out was that it got muddy real quick and water got into it fast. I decided to take the solenoid box out and I mounted it on the top part of the ARB--where there is a slight "platform" so to speak on the USPS right in front of the OEM turn signal. I just used the same holes I had drilled out earlier. I like it there as the access point for the control is much easier and the container for the solenoid box is easy to access.

Now, if oyu do not have a dual battery, you can run the solenoid box inside of the engine compartment to the USPS side--Thanks Dan!--I have a dual battery, but there is still space there. One day I will measure it up, fab up a couple of brackets and I will relocate there. But for now, on the top of the ARB does fine.

Best.

I did the 12K with just a friend and a floor jack HTH.
