Looking to buy this 100 series, they sent me pics of the undercarriage. I see bit of rust ( cannot tell if it just surface rust or not,), also not sure if there are any leaks ? would it be possible for an experience person, here on the forum, to have a look and please let me know anything that you can spot as a red flag?

I think it looks good. Of course you can see some areas with rusty stuff but this isn't anything to worry about.

  • Where did the vehicle spend it's time, I see your in California?
  • How much is it selling for and what are the miles?
  • What year 100 is this?

  • If you could drop that spare tire and inspect up in the cross member area that would be awesome but based on the lack of rust on gas tank skid plate and other areas you're looking good.
  • Exhaust and muffler seem to always look that way, the hardware on my exhaust is very crusty. Brake lines look good. Rear shocks and coils look aftermarket / have been replaced. It's got Bridgestone tires on it so you know the previous owner wasn't a cheap ass ..Looking at the rear end pic most of the hardware looks OK and nothing too crusty

  • It looks like this rig has never seen any mud or off road conditions, do you think it's been a pavement princess?

  • Any ideas of service history? Put the VIN into Toyota Owners website. Hows under the hood look? Check fluids ? Smell transmission fluid, if you have a dipstick. Look for any signs of leaks under there too. All of these pics are from the middle / rear end, nothing up front

and PS - Buy it quick before someone else does =]

I would request more pictures on this one. I would want pictures of the spare tire support at the end of the cable. The brace up above the spare tire. This area is very susceptible to rust. Also have them snap a picture of the hood latch.

These vehicles are a true joy to drive and work on. If they are rusty then every improvement or maintenance item will be a crapshoot. Good luck!

It is not bad but will require some intervention now to keep it from getting more invasive. There are numerous approaches to such depending on how much you want to do vs HID.

Thanks all for your inputs. It seems the vehicle got sold while i was trying to evaluate the condition of it :(.

Lol the market for these trucks is so hard to shop in...if the price is right and there is minimal rust ,gotta act fast!

Try shopping the classifieds on this website. Tends to be more friendly to shoppers who want to ask questions and need some time to decide
