Man have i screwed up this time!!! couple years ago i am cruisin down the road in my 95 tacoma 4by v6, i hear this god awful sound, limped home spark plug worked loose and blew up the coil pack big time!! did a heli coil ran fine for 10k, BAAAM!! blew another one , installed another helicoil, ran great for 400 miles ,BAAM!! same damn thing. Heres the really humbling part every time i installed the helicoil i never struck it with the rod that comes in the kit,now i may be wrong on this but when i went to the parts house and told the deal with the initial problem the guy rented me a tap to make the new threads for the helicoil it was a tap welded to an extention to make it easier, packed it with grease caught shavings, also rigged shop vac and small hose , just in case.Worked fine , but i didnt know you are supposed to lightly strike with rod after helicoil screwed in, all i was given was the tap and an insert, so now too much material has been removed and now spark plug is traveling too far down, I just realized how pathetic my question is going to sound DAMN but .can i insall a slightly bigger helicoil the right way? i think 14mm is what the first three were: if this is possible , any advice on heat range of new plug? Any advice period other than new head on tacoma, and shoulders? if this truck could just run 1000 miles until i could have new head installed would be great, Go easy please...yeah i'm a rookie

Just brain storming here... How about a bigger plug? Bigger threads that is. The plug is going down into the cylinder too far? How about some washers? I don't know too much about heat ranges, so I won't comment.

How big is the hole in your head right now? (hehehehe......... ok)

bigger plug

a bigger plug is what i am wanting to try ,i think i can find the right plug, having hard time finding the right size helicoil, with a bigger plug, with bigger threads , i might not need the helicoil? any thoughts on this...
