Can someone post pic of stock turn signal lever?

I have been up in Wisconsin for a couple of days so just getting back to this thread.

In an OEM system the B wire is the +12V feed from the Hazard switch.
The S is the +12V feed from the brake switch.

Is your flasher OEM or after market? The OEM flasher on my 2/71 is only a two wire system with the case grounded.

Whose harness do you have?
Are you planning on running the Hazard function?

I have a "made-at-home" harness I believe :mad:

My flasher is an aftermarket and I don't plan on running the hazard function.

Also - G/L = green/blue or green/black?

Thanks man,
Jonny

OEM Wiring Colors

L = Blue
W = White
B = Black
R = Red
O = Orange
Y = Yellow
G = Green

Connect one terminal of the flasher to +12V
Connect the other to the B terminal on the switch (GL wire)
Connect one side of the brake switch to +12V
Connect the other side to the S terminal (GW wire)

Connect the other four wires as follows:
The longer GY wire from the switch to the FR light (Front Right)
The shorter GY wire from the switch to the RR (Rear Right)
The shorter GO wire from the switch to the FL light (Front Left)
The longer GO wire from the switch to the RL light (Rear Left)

That will give you brakes and turn signals.

If you want the dash indicator lights to also work:

Connect the left indicator light to the long GY wire and the Right indicator light to the short GO wire. The lights ground themselves through the dash.

The OEM harness had 3-way female connectors to make these connections easily...

This is exactly what I needed. Thank you VERY much :cheers: I really appreciate it. I will have working turn signals one of these days...

Is the 12v green?

What/where is the brake switch?

I am not seeing a green/black wire on the turn signal switch? Do you mean the green/blue which is the "B" on the switch?

Thanks again man,
Jonny

Also, what is this? Sorry for the crappy picture. Hard to get in the hole where the cluster is with light and a phone camera...

photo.jpg

It is bolted to a metal bracket behind the gauge cluster. It has 2 spaded wires going to it. Is it to ground too?

Don't pay attention to the colors of the wires going to it - they are aftermarket...

Thanks,
Jonny

I have made that same color mistake (writing B for Blue instead of L) too many times. It should be the GL wire (Green/blue) from the flasher to the turn switch.

The pic seems to show your brake switch. If it only has two terminals, one should go to +12V the other to the S terminal (GW wire) on the turn signal.

L = Lavender. :D

OK, I'm confused...

I thought my flasher was a 3-wire, with the small wire on the back going to ground. After checking with my VM, the wire I thought was a ground is actually the 12v. So, I have 2 other wires on the flasher. I attached one to the GW, and when the ignition is turned on the spare wire is showing 12v.

Should I take the small wire on the back and move it to ground? Then use the other wire that is not being used as my 12v?

I have everything hooked up and was expecting to see the wonderful view of flashing turn signals - but unfortunately that never happened :bang: I got nothing. No flashes, not lighting up, nothing...

Any ideas? Help? Info?

Thanks again,
Jonny

WE HAVE TURN SIGNALS. I REPEAT. WE HAVE TURN SIGNALS :clap:

Well, the small wire at the back was a power wire. So, I put one of the other wires to ground, and the third one to GW. And BAM, we had flashing turn signals.

They have never worked as long as I have owned my 40 - so this is a good day for me. One more check mark on my list of a million and one things to fix on my 40 :steer:

A BIG thank you to Coolerman for all of his help, and everyone else who contributed.

Regards,
Jonny
