Remember the Alamo!
NCcruiser1970 has a '96 fzj80 for sale in Sanford. Here is the ad "96 FZJ 80 Green/Tan Lockers in NC $7300neg". I live in San Antonio, TX and will plan on flying out to pick it up and drive it back, possibly during this President's Day weekend with my family and make a short vacation out of it. I was hoping someone could check it out for me before I get my finances involved or wasted. NCcruiser1970 "Patrick" is willing to work with someone to have it checked out for me so if anyone can please let me know if they are willing and able and then make arrangements with Patrick. I appreciate any help. It's my first 4x4 and I want to make sure I don't miss anything.

Thanks,
Billy

Patrick is a member of this club and I can tell you that the cruiser is a great price. It has been a year since i've seen it but it was in great condition last time I saw it. He lives almost 3 hours from me so unfortunately I can't go look at it again for you but other members will most likely be closer and might be able to help you.

Thanks anyway, but we already made a deal on it. I've heard a bit from you guys and have seen plenty of pics, and with an agreed on good price I just don't think I can pass it up. So I will fly out President's Day weekend and drive it back. I just haven't decided if we will make it a short family vacation and stop at the Georgia Aquarium or not. It would be cheaper to go out by myself, but my youngest turns 6 on the 20th and we love animals and aquariums. I would be able to take my time if I go alone, but that would be one boring drive. If nothing else, I may just go out with my 10 year old and do a little camping on the way back.

I know some of you may be thinking, "shouldn't those girls be in school?" Well with the three day weekend and me being a firm believer in good grades=good times, the possibility of missing a day or two doesn't really bother me.

The GA aquarium is awesome!
May be a little much to justify the whole family flying etc...but you don't want to miss it!

Look at another date and come for the Aquarium, a Braves game & the World of Coke all at once or even Six Flags - that would be a blast!

Yeah, I think we have decided that it will just be my oldest and me. Of course it wouldn't be fair to go to the aquarium without my youngest too. So I will look up some other cool places to stop on the way back. We may also see exactly how far out of the way it would be to go a bit into the Smoky Mountains. I haven't been since I was a kid, and still had a great grandmother alive that lived in Franklin, TN.

Who knows, I might even find a bump or two to traverse.

When are you making this trip?

The plan is to fly out this Saturday. Now it looks like I will be alone. It turns out my 10 year old needs to be here for school after all. President's Day weekend was going to be a three day weekend for the girls, but due to snow a couple of weeks ago, causing a snow day, they just made the make-up day next Monday. She can miss some school, but with the extra day this adds it will be better if she stays in case she ends up missing anything later on.

Of course, this gives me more time for the return trip. Instead of having to be back Monday or Tuesday I don't really have to be back until Thursday, which will give me more time to stretch my legs.

We have the same make up day on Monday ...if you are coming through Charlotte let us know, we will buy you a beer.

My kids will be taken out of school for trips, as I feel the same. You can't learn everything in school....

I see what you did there Brian :)
