I am looking to swap a GM steering column into my FJ40. I was told that the 1973-1987 GM column is the one to use, but I have a 1993 column out of a GMC 1500 pickup. Would there be any problems using the newer column?

I used a column out of an 89 S-10. It has all the typical newer GM stuff, ignition key in column, dimmer switch control, wiper switch control, and tilt.

I'm not sure what the difference would be between the S-10 and 1500 columns, but the biggest thing is what are your fab skills like? I remade the column dash mount to get the column up higher in the dash, made a custom firewall mount, and modified the shaft slip joint. My 40 has a manual saginaw box.
