I have a Land Rover Discovery 2, and am adding a 2" lift. This should give me space for 32" tires.

I realize that 16x7 would be better for 235's, but the selection of 5x120mm wheels in 7" is very limited.

Based on research, it seems 16x8 will work, but it "will look funny". I can't picture how or why it would look weird so I'm asking for advice.

These are the rims I'm looking at

I like a simple design, not black, and these fit the bill for me. Cheap, too.

Comments, thoughts? Thanks.

Personally I would not run 235 on 8 inch wide rim. I did run a 235 on a 5.5 inch rim and now I'm running to 255 on a 7 inch rim. I think you run into problems if you're going off road with the outside edges the rim getting scraped up in dented on rocks etc.

My old 4Runner ran the same 30x9.5x15 tires on 8 inch rims for about 20 years with no issues. Well, the tires finally went bald.

Seems like a perfectly reasonable combo to me, though 7 inch would probably "look" better.

I don't think the issue is looks so much as functionality.
235 is 9 1/4" so yes there won't be much rubber sticking outside of the rim and hub metal to protect those.
