Hiya, first time poster here!

Looking for some advice on the air cleaner hose system. I am attempting to locate an air compressor behind the airbox near the firewall (where people traditionally mount an auxiliary battery). I was wondering if it was okay to remove this part coming off the air cleaner hose. Is this a resonator? What are the implications of removing it and plumbing the vacuum line directly into the hose instead of into this little volume? Removing this piece will give adequate clearance for what I am trying to install. To be clear, if its okay to remove, I plan on plugging the hole and connecting the hose that is connected to the piece I am removing to the plug. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks!

James

It's just a noise-reduction resonator, there should be no issue with removing it (other than you'll get a bit more induction noise). You'll need to come up with a good way to seal it when you remove it, as it is after the mass air flow sensor. Any vacuum leaks at the seal (or your new connections for the other vacuum lines) will result in MAF-related codes (even for a very small leak).

FYI the resonator is not included on my aftermarket cold air intake. The vacuum line is routed directly into the intake pipe, after the MAF.
