and do i need wheel spacers or do i relly have to do a body mount chop?

In short, yes, you should be able to squeeze the 35's in there. Probably will need wheel spacers sense you're looking at a 12.50, which of course if you could have gotten away without the BMC before, once you put the spacers on, you will need the BMC.

But now to the soap box preaching. If your FJ is going to be a pavement queen, I'd suggest sticking with a 33" tire. Once you get up to the 35" or bigger, if you have an automatic, your transmission will start searching for the right gear a lot more often, especially while going up inclines and with cruise control on. Plus there is debate on the added stress the 35" tires will add to your drive train, I.E. CV axles. But to each their own.

First off Jack, you need to share your "cheap" source of BFG KM2's, I own a set on my 80 and love them.

Can you put them on? Sure
Will they rub? Sure
Will doing the "body mount chop" help reduce rubbing? Yes
Will doing it remove the rubbing? Depends...on how the chop was done but they will probably still rub when reversing, turning hard one way or another and going up/down a driveway "ramp". When you get it aligned, you can ask the tech to push the caster as far forward as they can to help give some clearance to the BMC. Refer to Bmthiker's rig, he is running those tires but not on stock wheels.

The issue is the extra width of the 12.50 tire. I ran a 35 x 10.5 tire without issues. The problem is finding a 35 x 10.50 x 16, the best option IMHO (SS SSR tire) is currently unavailable with no date expected 6 months out.

My best advise is what was advise above, agreeing the a good 33" tire is the best option. They won't impact the drivetrain as severely as the 35's do, are much cheaper, available in the BFG KM2 (255/85/16), won't suck as much out of the MPG's as 35's do. I ran them before I re-geared mine and would still use them if it were a mostly street rig. I believe that the engineers designed the FJC to run on 33's since the speedo was spot on, it handled great and worked very well off-road in 90% of situations I encountered.

Just my 2 cents...

Wow guys thanks Alot. They are my friends and he has 1000 miles on them. So I thought to try but it's a no go. I think I'm just ganna do the 33x12.5 with my RC lift. Thanks again guys

We are just experimenting with a suppliers new front upper and lower bushes to stop the rubbing when loaded, and give some extra castor adjustment for lift.

They should arrive today.

I have 33" on 20 inch rims and have a little trouble with the cruise control as well at high speeds. I have found that if I keep it at 70mph on the cruise it does fine, but if I try to go to 75mph cruise control, the transmission is continually trying to find the right gear, especially on slight inclines.
