been having issues with the starting for the past year or so and havent had too much time to diagnose it, put another rebuilt carb on it, bought it from Pinion on the forum here but still no luck, im beginning to think it may not be a carb issue. the thread link is below.

if anyone is close to medford, near Tufts, please let me know, id appreciate the help.

I think you have a vacuum leak somewhere. Replacing a carb and having the same problem makes it pretty obvious that the problem is elsewhere. Make sure all your hoses are attached where they're supposed to be and that they're in good condition.

where abouts are you located/. I owned a 86 FJ60 for about 6 years. I did all my own work and was pretty damn familiar with it. The big thing is do you have any manuals? I sold mine a long time ago and have forgotten most of everything by now. I'm more than willing to come by and take a look at it and see if I can help the situation.

im gona try to diagnose the vacuum issue if thats the culprit and report back, probably wont get to it until saturday morning.

Amir...I am thinking you have a vacuum leak as well. Two tricks have always worked very well for me.

Get a garden mister...something like windex spray bottle....with the engine running spray water slowly in and around the carb, manifolds, vac lines, etc. If the idle suddenly changes...you know water is being sucked into the intake in that vicinity. Some guys use carb cleaner instead of water.....I like the skin on my body so I use water.

Second, get 3 or so feet of garden hose. With the engine running, hold one end of the hose to your ear and the other into the engine compartment. Hissing sounds will be rather pronounced if you have a vac leak.

You can also use a propane torch. Turn on the gas but don't ignite it, obviously. Run the nozzle along your vacuum lines. If one of the lines is leaking, the shot of propane will cause the motor to race.

wow, neat tricks, will try them asap. thanks.
