(Moved my question to its own thread.)

I'm looking at an Oregon (not a smog required area) to California purchase, a 2006 rig. Per another tech thread, apparently there are different ratings of catalytic converters.

How does one identify a federal approved vs CARB compliant cat? Is it obvious from a part number or visually?

Thanks

On the catalytic converter should have an EO number (Executive Order). Starts with a "D." Search database whether it complies with your Make/Model/Engine type.

The truck should be 50 state certified. Unlikely that the smog test station will notice it is from out of state unless it fails the smog test. I brought my LX470 in with original cats from out of state and had no issues. If it fails the test then they will check that the cat is certified for California if the original has been replaced...
