California Coast Trip

Just got back from our California Coast trip. We hit up Solvang, Pismo, Oceano Dunes, San Luis Obispo, Hi Mountain Ridge, Pozo and Gaviota State Beach (we never made it up to Prewitt Ridge because of the flies) We had a great time!

It sucks to be home in triple digit heat

The pics look good - it looks like you went abroad and hit Europe and went down to the Sahara or something.

Is it flies or fires as the reason why you didnt go to Prewitt Ridge?

Flies. I guess they get really bad up there this time of year. We found out last minute when we met up with some people from expedition portal that forgot to tell us. So we avoided driving all the way up there just to hang out with the flies.

Instead we camped at High Mountain Camp near Pozo. It was full!!! Full of hunters. Apparently deer season has begun! We were lucky to find a spot. And yes, there were quite a few flies there too.

I brought a fire permit with us, so im good on fires no matter where i go.

Next time you hit up the coast, hit up Jocko's for steaks.

man..you missed out....you coulda hit the Hitchingpost at least, what about the Firestone Brewery in Buellton?

Garcia Ridge and the road to Pozo used to have rocks in it, They grade it all the time now. The Ridge still has something to drive on though.

Next time, I wanna see Jalama and Jocko's in your report.
you know what, pack your stuff and go there this weekend, tell the boss I said so.

Didn't the Ford air down for the sand?
youo got to be there in November for SNT. WAY less rowdies on quads and buggies, add 300 LAndcruisers and huge BBQ's all over the place.

It did further in. It was just the first part and the very last section that were graded.

We had just arrived and we didn't air down yet. It was literally minutes into arriving. He aired down afterwards and went everywhere.
