Feb. 13 Monthly meeting in Myrtle Beach

Mar. 12-14 Let's go wheeling again somewhere...Looks like Gulches...it's close and it's open

If I recall, last year we still wanted to have some meetings because some members couldn't go wheeling and

there were some items we needed to discuss.
We can add these as needed.
Happy Wheeling

Let's get some ideas rolling.

Jeremy

Here is a spread sheet of the other clubs activities this year.

I propose that we go ahead and lock in the date for the Boil and get planning on it. The weekend of Oct. 7th-9th is open across 3 states and looks to be spread out enough that we might get good attendance.

2 clubs are already going to Gulches on the 19th of March, so we should probably plan a trip in February. It looks like most people are just focusing on the Fallen Soldier build and that might be a good month to do a LC Gulches run. Skip really needs help up there in order to keep it open, his attendance has dropped, and since we have so many clubs across the south that like to wheel it I think we should do our part to get guys up there once a month in the off-season. He is pretty good in the summer months, but he needs more support in the colder months.

Also a July or August URE trip would be nice in between ONSC's trips in June and the big one in Sept. Aug. 5th-7th is exactly 6 weeks on each side of their 2 trips.

Let's not forget that we have Durhamtown, Rice's ORV along with Gorges that we can reach out to for a weekend trip in the summer.

Let's try to get this ironed out soon so we can finalize our schedule between both UC and UC-LC in the next few weeks. People are starting to make plans for each event and marking there calendars down for things to attend and we don't want to get overlooked this year or have too much overlap like last year due to last minute planning.

Jeremy

Good work! Gulches sounds good. I like the ideas! Sounds really good to me! What does everyone else think? I don't know anything about Rice's and gorges. I guess I'll have to google it. See everyone at the HAMOM.

Very nice.

Jeremy while your at it why not go ahead and lock down the annual and the parkway ride. Looks like ONSC is doing a just for them event at brown mountain so maybe we do our that weekend. That will make it two weeks after the boil.

Also I'd like to do the parts swap again.

I sent a note out to all the UC officers to get the ball rolling with this as well. My intent was to go ahead and get us all talking and iron out the schedule very soon. If this looks good for LC, I will get JP to add some specific dates for our meetings and add the 2 events you mentioned to try to get this settled for the UC calendar for the remainder of the year.

I figured with so much going on this year, that I could get LC to sponsor a few wheeling trips and we go along with them at UC. We have enough going on with MLK, GSMTR, and the like to plan other stuff. Thought it would be nice to get LC out there some more.

We did a less than stellar job last year with planning and I wanted to get a jump on it for the new year.

What date looks open for your swap again?

Jeremy

August or November I say. Maybe do it the 4th of Nov and tie it in with a monthly meeting?

Based on our bi-monthly schedule we wouldn't meet in Nov. so I put it in August with a meeting at the same time.

The only thing that might change would be the annual to coincide with a bi-monthly rotation or if the club just wanted to have it earlier. October just already looked pretty busy.

Jeremy

I don't know how well the annual would be being in November. Before I was pres they always had the annual in late August.

Also y'all may want to start looking into doing a budget for UC/LC. I think LC should have funds available to spend on it's members/events.

I am already working on that. I have already told DBenke on mult. occ. that the next time they want to do something to get with me about funds.

The annual was the biggest one I didn't know about. Figured that could be discussed and decided later.

Maybe we will just swap the dates with your parts swap for now.

Jeremy

Well I just checked some other forums and it looks like someone else had the same idea I had. A save the Gulches weekend the same date as I posted above. It will be crowded. I propose we still do our own Save the Gulches day SOON, let's just all agree on a good day.

If we can agree to a date, I will start a thread and start generating ideas, interest, etc. Maybe we can shoot for the next weekend? Feb. 25th-27th?

Thanks,
Jeremy

You know I actually like the Gulches. Not because it's just down the road from me but because it has camping. I went 2 years ago with some college friends and we stayed at one of the sites down on the river. It was a whole lot of fun. We swam in the river when it got hot and when it got dark went out on the trails when no one was around. It's primitive but a whole lot of fun.

That is the idea. It is a fun place and the rates for weekend wheeling/camping is only $50. I have a video that shows you can run 9 trails in a stock 4x4 or go crazy on other stuff. It has changed A LOT in the past 2 years. Heck it has changed a lot in the past year.

I wanted to do a LC wheeling trip and then have ours with GA Cruisers but do something a little different for the LC guys. Since they have to drive so far I wanted to make it into a weekend excursion with the club doing a meal one night and maybe a raffle. The run with UC in March will just be a day trip.

Jeremy

All of the above was simply posted in response to the open thread of calling all members for ideas. In no way did I create or attempt to creat a schedule FOR Lowcountry Land Cruisers. If that is how this came across, I apologize.

I simply wanted to get LC and UC calendars to mesh with the other events going on and get people talking about what they want as a club. All of the info above was for information purposes only.

I know there was some headache last year with scheduling within Upstate Cruisers and Lowcountry and I was trying to alleviate that.

Have a  on me.:)

Jeremy

Gulches isn't just for hardcore rigs. It has something to offer everyone. If you haven't been to Gulches in a couple of years or even a year a lot has changed.

I know of few places to wheel that doesn't get nasty when wet in the Southeast, but yes this place has an extra pucker factor in stocker type rigs when wet.

If you guys hold true to the MB meeting, I'll do everything I can to be there, barring a medical emergency within the family.
