Holy friggin sick work.

Nice buggy, I hope to make one sometime in the distant future....

Question. What size IROKs are those? They don't have the ballon look that most of them I have seen (I Hate That)....39.5 17s??? ......Or do they just not have air in them yet? I am was wanting a set of 39.5s IROKs til I saw a set last night, looked like the guy could have floated on water (ghey)...I would still like a set if I could get them in a rim size that doesnt turn them into ballons..

they are 42x17r bias
they have some air in them but when they are fully inflated they werent much bigger maybe an inch or so

If ya get a chance throw some pictures up with them aired up...If not, no worries...Killer build

Complete artist when it comes too tube work, seen some stuff in other shops that pales in comparision.

It all comes down to the details and his fitting is top notch.

Your portals are based on the Volvos? and if so is the strength of the portal tech boxes better than the volvos?

Rob

The portals have some minor similarities to Volvos. (one piece cast box, similar gear ratio) but that is about it. These are a complete redesign that uses a patent pending full floating design with a spindle to carry the load of the wheel completely seperate from the actual shaft that turns the tire. This allows for much higher load carrying capacity as compared to a semi floating axle that the volvo units employ. The Portal Tek Gen III portal boxes are constructed of 4140
alloy steel which is exponentially stronger than the Volvo OEM castings. We employ a Bolt on indexed replaceable steering arm to eliminate the problem that volvo boxes have with tearing the steering arms off when using hydraulic steering and moderate to high speeds. (ladoga and baltic cup series taught us well). Consider them a 1.5 ton rated axle that we derate to 1.25 tons for longevity.

that looks sweet! Love the axle. Your tires are backwards, though.:flipoff2:
