I worked with Inventor for years when I was with Applied Materials. We designed/modeled sheet metal brackets, machined aluminum parts, and gas lines for the most part. I now work at MMM and use Unigragphics. I miss Inventor.
If you haven't used inventor last 2 version you are missing alot. I just installed IV09 on a 64 bit vista machine and it rocks!

I use solidworks and for some reason I find it really hard to get my head around the way sketchup works.
It took me ages, but I've finally found a way to import sketchup models into solidworks. Should work for Inventor and every other 3D modelling program too. I just haven't figured out an affordable way of pulling 3ds models into solidworks.
To get the sketchup parts out. First I downloaded and installed a LWO exporter into sketchup.
Then I take the LWO files (about 2/3 success rate at this stage) and use a little program called CTRLView to scale them (I work in metric) and save as an IGES or STL file.
I can then import the IGES or STL into solidworks.
Ends up about a 50% success rate. But I'm mainly doing this for scenery anyway. Throwing a hilux or landcruiser into a model of a building or machinery is great for putting some scale to it. I've also got a 3D homer simpson I use to add realism.

Inventor looks really awesome, but god damn is SketchUp easy....
Should I make the side wings longer?? Can someone also confirm the width of the lower rear quarter panels for me? Thanks guys.

Looks good, maybe beef up the wings a little - in doing so you can add a step for roof access [if you do the roof rack thing]. Only other thing I can think of deals with the receiver - how do you mount / access the clevis pin?

P.S. I'll keep you posted on the PTO front bumper - I'm gonna try and tuck it in a bit, if not, I'll think of something to do with all that overhang - maybe some patio furniture.

As for the wings on mine, I'm thinking I'll extend them closer to the wheel well. There is another plate going under towards the frame, and I'll have another tube going from the wing to the frame ( my quarters are chopped ). I'll get up some more pictures after I modify the bumper a bit.
As for the clevis pin, there is 5" of the bumper that is open on both side of the hitch, with a hole for the pin inside. I wanted to keep as good of an approach angle as possible, and having the hitch stick out for the clevis pin is not something I wanted to do.
Im just starting with inventor, but so far ive designed a 2-D bumper. The 3-D is so much easier with Google! I still have preference towards autocad though...

bought some 1/4" plate, welding rod, enlisted the master welder (my dad) and went to work... Came out with this!
Ive gained 4.5" belly, and tons of other clearance along the sides, plus my cat is now protected!
