The software is awesome!

Thanks for posting this. Here's an image of a Slider i've started working on.

I still have to Verify some dimensions on my 60 to make sure it will fit. But i plan on Building these once the Drawings are done!

I have been working on modeling a rear bumper for my truck. This one is designed to fit into the frame rails.

GLTHF that is awesome.

You have the Channels out of the frame in the back correct? and the original Cross member will be history as well?

That's how this would fit in, yeah. It would replace the factory crossmember and provide a reinforced hitch. I was thinking that the easiest thing to do would be to design it, then send the design to a guy I know who can lazer cut plate steel. Then it'd be a kit thats easy to weld together!

It's all one big idea though and won't be happening soon, for me at least.

Are you designing it to have a swing out?

I was thinking of it originally, but I couldn't figure out how the spindle works on a swing out. I'd rather have a spindle and bearings than just a sleeve over a rod for a hinge.

That is definitely the next step though. I wanted to model it right into a 60 that I found in the 3D warehouse, but I couldn't figure out how to explode the model, or resize it, so I could remove the stock bumper.

WOW you guys are awesome! The only reason i'm able to be on the computer is because I have a 3 1/2 year old who can turn it on for me!

Alrighty, here are my most recent design pics with dual swingouts. The spindles are 1 1/2" in diameter, but that is easily adjustable in the design. I wasn't sure what the diameter of the spindle sleeve would be, so I guesstimated.

I am a long time Inventor user and would have to say that Inventor is a breeze to learn. You can be up and modeling parts and assemblies in one day just by doing some tutorials.

you use inventor daily? me too. what kind of stuff you model?

I've just done a tire, fully parametric. I simply have to change tire size with metric standard tire size and it redraw. I'm just missing the thread spacing for proper tire width.

How long did that take you?? That looks incredible.

2-3 hours.

but it took me 2 hours of workflow thinking before i tackle the model in inventor. building the cross section of the tire using parametric formula was the longest. If i wouldn't have done it parametric, i would have save the thinking....

GLTHFJ60 - I want that bumper! I can't wait to ditch my crappy u-haul hitch to gain some clearance back there, and my C-channels NEED to come out. I dig your thinking on this one.

Nice work:cheers:

I'll need to start dorking around with this to figure out a bumper/tire carrier combo for my FJ45 LWB. Great work guys.
