Does anyone have a Toyota publication number for a factory repair manual covering the OEM cable lockers and full floating axles from an HJ-61?

Or, how about an exploded parts diagram?

Thanks,

The body/chassis manual for late model 60s has the info on the FF.

Roger that, however it doesn't have any info on the locking differential mechanism nor an exploded view. I'm trying to get a visual on how the actuating rod functions inside of the housing and gain a better understanding of how the internal mechanicals work.

Kevin, did you have to drill any holes to locate and place the levers inside the cab? Maybe I wasn't looking hard enough, but I failed to see any pre-existing holes, capture nuts, or plugs on the floor pan that would indicate a factory mounting point while inspecting from beneath the vehicle.

Also, did you have to fabricate any additional components to convert the bracketry from RHD to LHD?

Thanks,

Actually, I think you're right the FF is in there, but I am not sure if the locker was, I'll have to check.
Once you take the locker out it is all very self evident in terms of the workings.

All the holes to mount the actual brackets where already drilled in the body cross member, I needed to put nut-serts in all of them, but they were there. The two holes that go through the floor where not there, had to locate and drill those.
And I had lockers from a LHD, so no issue with the location.
Don't know if the mount holes were there on my cabin floor since I had already cut that out.

Many thanks for the input, I appreciate it! :D

2mbb, you ROCK!! That's exactly what I was looking for - thanks! :D

Now, can anyone tell me whether the locker has to be engaged before I try and remove the axles from the housing? Or does it remove like the non-locked FF in the FSM?

Thanks,

o.k. you are obviously way in over your head. I will be right over to pick those up from you and trade you my ARB...

jk. I would assume that you would want it unlocked to pull out the axles.

btw how is the 12ht swap coming?

Locked, not only "locked" but you want to make sure it is actually engaged, as in the two castle gears are fully nested. You can very easily tell when it engages if the axle is in the air and you turn one wheel with the cable engaged, the other wheel will spin in the opposite direction for a little ways and then, clunk, it will spin the same way.
You need to make sure it is fully engaged to remove the 3rd from the housing as well, since it will not clear unless it is.

Clint, truth be told, it has been sitting there on it's pallet since it arrived in September. Long story, but I finally received that missing pallet of parts late January and guess what?: I'm still missing parts from the order! Major PITA and have written the little bits off and will source from other vendors.

Plan is to put it on a test frame for evaluation and fine tuning before I take the Wookie off line for the install. Also want to have all the requisite bits in hand before I start to make it as plug and play as possible.

At the rate I'm going, I'll be lucky just to get the axles installed in time for some late summer outings... :bang:

Thanks Kevin, locked and fully engaged it is then. The axles are coming out - let the rebuild begin!
