I talked to my Dad, and he is open, so I was going to suggest the following two dates:

2/20
2/27

We would start the trip going to San Luis, a small private ghost town, where we can stop and tour some of the old buildings, take pictures. After that, we could drive to the Cabezon Peak wilderness area: Cabezon Peak Wilderness Study Area .

After that, if we can figure out how the other group did it, we can try to head towards Mt Taylor, and exit to Grants.

What say the collective?

Looks like fun, too bad I am working both of those days! :(

I'd love to do this on 2/20, or later, but can't on 2/27. On 2/20 I'll be on the way to Santa Fe with my wife, but could persuade her to divert for the San Luis part.

Regarding the route through to Mt. Taylor and Grants, I was with that group last November and recorded a GPS track. So if anyone has or wants to download to their Apple or Android phone or tablet an application such as MotionX HD (costs $2) you'll have the entire route out to I-40. There was nothing difficult about it, by the way, but it was spectacular.

Sweet, I'll download the app. How do you share it ? Is it a file you can email or is it shared through the app?

You should be able to see the route and download the file from this page. There's a button you click on to download the file in .gpx format. If that's a problem give me an address and I'll email it to you.

There are different procedures for getting that file into your MotionX HD app, depending on what device you're using. To load it onto my iPad I have to email the .gpx file to a specific MotionX address which then sends an email back to me with a link in it. If I open that email on the iPad and click on that link it automatically loads the track into the MotionX HD app. Fuller instructions are on the MotionX HD web site.

Thanks for arranging this! Either date is good for me, but if I had to pick- 20th

I'd prefer March.

March, hopefully I won't be working.

March 19th is the next Cruising for Coffee meeting. It is right after the time change so if we picked a place on the Westside to meet everybody that wanted to go could be on the road by 9am.

Just thinking out loud.

Unfortunately, this has to be postponed indefinitely... maybe we can do it as a summer run.
Sorry this didn't come together. Hope all is OK!!
