I'm getting my out of state (TX) 100 smogged in CA next week. Because it's an out of state vehicle I know they'll be looking at everything very closely. It's a 50 state vehicle. No CEL, everything running smoothly as it should.

When I was cleaning the throttle body last night I noticed a port on top of the intake manifold that had been capped. Am I missing some necessary equipment? Pics below.

Anyone know what the capped port is? Is yours capped?

I don't think that port is used, look at your under hood label if you have a vacuum hose diagram. I think you should be good.

That is a factory cap.

99 LC here and it's looking the same as in your pic. Nothing connected there.

Great news, guys, thanks for putting my mind at rest.

The first shock came in form of me finding out at some point, someone had switched out the cats on this vehicle. The new cats are fed compliant, but not CARB compliant, so it was denied a CA smog cert the first time I brought it in.

Fortunately there's a system in place in CA that allows some fed compliant equipment, provided everything else is in check and I want to make sure this case gets closed when I get it inspected again next week.

What was the final outcome of this TX to CA import? I'm looking at an Oregon (not a smog required area) to CA purchase, a 2006 rig. How does one identify a fed vs carb cat? Is it obvious from a part number or visually?

Thanks
