Anyone want to throw some logic my way on running C range tires with a heavy 100 series . Is this no good as we start pushing these weights?

- My truck weighs in just under 7000 lbs loaded up. Probably not ever much heavier but never much less than 6300lbs
- C range tires are rated for 2700lbs

So does this put me too close to the limit? I've ran them for a season or two cruising locally and its been just fine but I've got a 3k mile road trip up north coming soon. I wanted to run my studded tires but thinking I may be better off just keeping the E-rated KO2s installed

I wonder if I should doubt these numbers? It does seem a bit heavy, maybe i wasn't positioned right on the scale pad, I think it was meant for big trucks..... Stock weight is 5,115lbs....Hard to see how I could possibly add so much weight but maybe..... Front and rear bumpers, swing outs, water, fuel , sleeping platform, roof rack, winch ...hmmmm I need to go find a scale nearby and verify

I’m pretty sure as long as you have 4 tires on your truck you are good for over 10,000 lbs but I’m not a math teacher. What do you think your 4 tires together are rated for?

Pretty sure that is correct. (less some more complicated math that is a waste of time in this case IMO)
Scale 1 3000lb
Scale 2 3960lb

1500 per front tire
1980 per rear tire

Low inflation pressures and overheating (tires) is what kills tires. I would run C-range snow tires all day long at your weights, and enjoy the smoother ride.

Thats what I thought too,

At full pressure they are rated at approx 2700 per tire so if I air up a bit I should be more than covered for my weight....Of course local tire shop tried selling me 10 ply e rated and scared me into thinking these are no good..

hmmm ok , thanks Mud world
