I can get the outside piece of the safari snorkel for $100. Is this a deal or is paying the $300 or more worth it to get the template and all the internal piping airbox stuff? I assume I can pipe it to my airbox without too much difficulty as long as I’m patient.

If you have installed one of these do you think this is ok for me to do this with only the outside piece?

And if this looks like an ok deal... Can I convince someone to mail me the template to help me cut it out?

Any thoughts on this or details on installation would be nice. All the snorkel threads are useful but never have all the information to make it 100% clear for me.

If you're talking about the main black outside piece, then it is a good deal. But expect to pay almost 100 bucks just for a replacement safari snorkel top. On the bright side, the 62s air intake is on the right side, so you should only need to source a rubber hose.

I'd go for it, there is bound to be someone who will send you their template or at least photocopy one for you.

Here's a linky detailing the install process, with the measurements for the template noted.

This linky will detail the remaining portions of the whole kit you'll be having to source elsewhere.

Thanks coyote. I'll review the links and post if I have any more questions.

If anyone has a used safari template let me know....

I'm not sure how I will attach the upper portion to the A-frame. They show platic studs? That sounds too flimsy to me. Maybe I'm missing something on their website.

With the weight being a non-issue, and only windforce or branches a concern:
Having never installed a Safari snorkel, and only reviewing the line drawing as you have, I'd personally have no problem with using those 3 'plastic studs'.

You're probably right. I'll wait and see when i get it home.

Are there any U.S. sources for the cast iron flange? Otherwise I'll find a PVC replacement.

Do you work Coyote? Seems you have nothing but free time to help everyone. :)

ARBUSA would be your source. Being in LA, you should have a local dealer. Enter your zip in this linky to find one.

I searched and found a local dealer 3 miles away. They told me they usually only service to Land Rovers... wtf. I could understand if we were in England. They reccommended man it aint free....
I guess I'll call them.

:D By 'help everyone' if you mean the few simpler questions I can weigh in on, then I'm guilty. As far as work, :princess:=full-time mom, and I work 3 days/week.
Damn Rover snobs. I'd hit up another local b4 MAF, next Kurt or Marlin tie as 2nd. Don't know if Mudrak handles ARB, but IIRC he's relatively local to ya.

I'll give Kurt a call. Thanks for the insight.

I am out of the country right now but if you do buy i still have my template that i will send to you. i should be in florida the middle of the month. PM me then if still interested.

Thanks, I just e-mailed you.

I got the snorkel last night and it came with all the parts still attached! All I have to do it buy some ducting or hosing to connect it to my airbox and I'm ready to go!

For $100, that's a no-brainer deal right there. Good score!

Installed it yesterday. It took me 2.5 hrs. I made my own template out of cardboard. I'll post pictures this weekend. It cost me a little less than $150. Damn hole saw alone cost $16.
