Question for next five years of vehicle ownership at approximately 10,000 miles per year. Keep current 2005 LX 470 with OMemu lift rock sliders body in perfect shape 148000 miles all maintenance fluids steering rack and filters hoses new within the last 30,000 miles. Or trade for a 2013 LX 570 38,000 miles previous CPO all service records. Will cost $35,000 to go from the 2005 to the 2013. 2005 never been off Road. Which one will be more dependable or will it be about the same also maintenance wise which one will cost more what do you think the difference would be?

Well do what I did....Have both ;)

I have a 2000 LX with 221K miles, so I don't think it's all that likely the truck will just self destruct. I also think that unless an extraordinary set of circumstances arise, trading up is always a losing proposition (dollar wise).

That said, until very recently the wife never drove the LX (she had a couple of 4Runners and one FJ Cruiser). She drove the 100 to work for a week and she "convinced" me to trade in her 6600 mile, 2014 FJ Cruiser toy for a 2017 LC.

If your horizon is 5 years/50,000 miles, I would call it a wash for dependability/maintenance cost. If you extend the horizon out further, the '13 starts to look better. You know your '05 and how it's been cared for really well and I consider that a big advantage.

I'd make the decision based on other factors, like features, intended use, etc.

Have you driven the 200 yet? I made the mistake of taking one for a test drive and couldn't believe the difference from my 100. The hundy has been the best car I've ever owned but I'm on the search for a 200. The improvements to me are stark.

When I got back in the 100 I was thinking "this thing feels like it's 30 years old". That said, after 35 minutes of driving it again I remembered why I like it so much and it's back in my good graces.

Both very capable, comfortable cars. Just a decade or more of improvements.

Just my 2¢... I agree with LBridges; trading up is generally a losing proposition. Having said this I traded up from a '14 to a '17 in February. As much as I enjoyed my '14, I love my '17 even more. I believe the answer to your question lies in the answer to your long term ownership goals. If you're truly satisfied with your current Cruiser; keep it and know you're ahead of the dollar game as long as you don't spend $35k in upgrades... LOL! So the answer may be keep your current Cruiser, show it some love to the tune of less than $35 grand and you come out ahead. Good luck!

I thought you already bought a 200 a couple years ago @SWUtah?? I remember your 100 from my time on that board back then. I remember your 100 being immaculate, and from what I can tell super clean 100s seem to be appreciating and they're getting harder to find. I love my 200, but I honestly would have a hard time recommending trading your 100 plus $35k for a stock LX570 partially because the LC seems to hold its value better over the LX. If you have $35k to burn, keep the 100 and find a nicely kept LX570 with higher miles. I've seen several lately for well under $35k that look immaculate. Finding an LC is much harder however in that price bracket.

I had a 2011 LX 570 with 28,000 miles on it had it for about a year drove to California and back and I decided I'm only gonna have one car because my wife doesn't drive so I got rid of the LX 570 because It Drove like a Bentley and my 100 is immaculate rides like a beast. I like the looks of the 2013 LX 570 better than the 2011 LX570 that I owned.

I went from a 2004 100 series that was in perfect shape to a 2013 200 and have no regrets. Drive one is great advice

Well if you already owned an LX570 you know what they're like which should make the decision a lot easier. I think it's fairly straightforward - keep the 100 and your biggest expense is maintenance. Trade the 100 plus $35k and your biggest expense is depreciation. Gas is a wash between the two, and insurance will be a little more for the 200. I'd wager reliability will be very similar since your 100 is well sorted. I think it just matters what your goals are, and you know that more than anyone here.

Get the newer vehicle with the nannies and safety features on it. Florida drivers are amongst the craziest I've ever experienced and those safety features will help ensure you survive all the wackadoos and blue hairs rolling around down there. Truffle shuffle that 100 good bye

^^^^ Truth ^^^^

Had an old fool hit me with a cop was across the street who witnessed it. Gave the guy a ticket and he went to court saying it was my fault. Brought my six year old boy (at the time) to court (he was in my old truck at the time, plus I thought he might like to see what went on in court rooms). Judge seemed to like asking him questions - would take a bolded kid than I think I raised to straight up lie to a judge.

SWMBO leaned on me so long about the lousy drivers that I finally sold off my Norton Commando motorcycle that I had since the B.C. days (Before Children).

I now have a dash cam.

We're moving to saint Augustine what part of Florida do you live in? I understand southern Florida is a nightmare and Tampa, Orlando and Jacksonville are not much better. Figure if I try to stay out of these big city areas I'll be safer;)

Small beachside town - Indialantic. On a map look east of Melbourne Florida.

Two big issues with Florida drivers. First, half the population is from somewhere else so imagine whatever bad habits exist where you learned to drive, then throw in habits from say Boston, New York, etc. Second, the age factor. Web reports average Texan age as 33 and Austin is surely younger than average (our closest same college town type community would be Gainesville, home of the Florida Gators). Consider a town like Zellwood (part of the greater Orlando area) which has an AVERAGE age of almost 73

I went from my very clean 2006 LX to my 2013 LC and haven't looked back.
