I was kind of up against this recently with our LX470. It's a 98 with 175k miles, drives and goes fine, but needed about $5k worth of stuff to keep it going well for another $100k. Nice GX460's and LX570's that I'd want to own were out of reach budget wise. I opted for the $5k route and I'm not worried about a single thing on the 100 series, I've owned it a long time, I know what's been fixed on it, I know the truck is right and I feel good about putting my wife and kids in it and driving across country. The only thing I don't like on it is no traction control or locker, but that can be fixed.
