Have a friend with an '03 (I think) Tacoma. The other day he stopped by and said his clutch suddenly started feeling weird, like one shift it was fine then the next shift it wasn't. I suspected the hydraulics, but when I crawled under to check the slave I could easily wiggle the clutch fork inside the bellhousing. Checking with a flashlight, I could peek under the boot and see that the pivot bolt inside the bellhousing was snapped off, it broke right at the bottom of the "mushroom" part.

Is this common? Never heard of it myself, but I'm not familiar with Tacomas.

Is it at all possible to change this thing without dropping the tranny? Doesn't look like it to me, but I thought I'd ask.

You would think the people that design these things would make a little access panel in them, so when things like this happan you can easily fix it.
I think it is going to have to come out:frown:
I hope you can still get the rest of the bolt out, might be a problem.
good luck to you
