First off, Mmw68, sincerest form of flatery and all of that jazz.

This is a first stage design at this point so any and all suggestions would be appreciated.

Neat bumper, I would run that on my FJ60, dont see anything that really needs to be changed.

As Tinker pointed out I'ld consider widening it a bit to incorporate side protection. Might consider a more ARB configuration though to give those headlamps trail protection from trees, shrubs, etc....

Definately looks like the JK Customs bumper. I like it. I'm going to order one from JK when I get the money.

That's AutoCad isn't it?

Don't know if you're sold on the integral winch concept, but I put 2 receivers in each bumper for a removable winch mount.

Sometimes the best way out is the way you got in.

It's a good start. I agree with Tinker though that it needs to be widened a bit. How far forward do you plan to have it stick from the truck's front? Do you plan to use CAD for getting all your measurements down before you start cutting for it? I wish I could design a bumper that way so that I'd at least know what I'd be getting myself into before I started the work :D

Ok here is my current state of design so far, I did make the bumper wider and it will protect the lower fenders.

Spook, yes all of the drawings are to scale and I do plan on using them to create my materials list and cut order. What I really wish I could do is render it all in 3d, but my A-Cad skills are not there yet.

If anybody wants I can send the DWG files that way you can design your own stuff.

Do you know what Pro-D is? That is what I just upgraded to and it kicks Auto Cad's ass. Definately much more advanced. If I have some more time, then I'll design a set and show it to you guys. I like your Auto Cad skills though.

You might want to think about putting the spare tire on the other side, if your Land Cruiser already leans to the driver's side, it's really going to compound the problem.

Otherwise, it looks really good, nice artwork!

Once you've got the plans completed for your front bumper, could you send me a copy? I like the design on the bumper itself (the wider design is a huge improvement) and would love to use it as a base to design and build my own bumper. I think for my purposes I'd bring the bars up farther in more of an ARB-ish design, and then make a pair of bars that I can connect to the bumper and sliders to protect the fenders.

GLTHFJ60, how easy is Pro-D to use for someone with no ACAD experience? I'm curious because if I can design my own stuff I'd love to do that.

Hey Exiled, how much would you imagine a steel wheel with a 35" tire would weigh? I'm curious because if you figure 60lbs total (plus the minimal weight of the cans themselves) for two full 5gal jerry cans offsetting the weight of the wheel/tire, I would think the weight of the two would be pretty closely matched. Then again I imagine a larger tire on a 16" wheel versus our factory 15" wheels would weight quite a bit more, so I could be way off. Just thinking out loud :D

The weight of the rear carriers should not be a huge problem for these two reasons.

1. They will be designed to be easily removable and won't be mounted unless I am going somewhere that they will benifit me and be worth opening evertime I need in the back.

2. You can't really tell from the attached images but towards the inboard end of each arm there will be a mechanical interface of some sort to support the weight. Either a T and channel or just a ramped block to support the weight, haven't decided yet.

Spook,
Yeah I will gladly send you the files, as long as you share any designs you come up with.

You got yerself a deal. Though I don't know how to design anything in CAD, I can supply copious amounts of pics :D
