my bumper went to powder coater today...so crossing fingers for delivery early next week. LOL

already working with him to determine proper setup to make the front bumper work with Lexus LX470 due to our hoods and grills lifting together and swinging out. Done some measurements and such and also working on turn signal lights and some new technology LED lights for offroad use....will let you know once that build starts for me.

As far as install....apparently you can do 3 of the 4 cuts on cross member with an angle cutting wheel...but the last one is next to muffler and is a pain in a$$ unless you use a sawzall or a hacksaw....well a hacksaw if you have lots of time. :)

I will try to borrow a sawzall as he said it takes longer to cut the cross member than to bolt up the main bumper. Then you have bearing packing with grease and install and fitment of swing arms to complete. Complete kit with straight bolt up to attach...no drilling or modifying.

Sorry to bump a super old topic, but anybody know if there is a tow rating for the hitch receiver? I've emailed Mike, but haven't heard back yet.

i dont think there is anything "official", as ARB is the only one there. This is one of the reasons for its price. I couldn't imagine it would be lower than factory. But mike could not guarantee anything either most likely for liability reasons. he will get back to you though.

There is no tow rating. As noted ARB is the only one with a rating. So, if a rating is a strong concern.... well ARB is the only option. I dont think it is right for me to restate what Mike told me when he built my bumper. I will leave that to him. What I can say is that it will pull anything that you should reasonably pull behind our rigs. The same that you will find with a Slee, 4x4labs, etc. It is very well built.

I have personally pulled a packed and I mean PACKED 12ft enclosed Uhaul trailer behind mine and hardly even noticed it there with out issue from San Francisco to San Diego. I hope this helps!

Edit: what I mean by rating is that "official" number. It has been covered many time before. But, it is very expensive to get a bumper rated. Slee, BIOR, etc. really cant afford to go through the process as a small company. Yeah they can tow. And will tow what you should reasonably tow behind this platform. But, an official "rating" they do not have.

I've towed a 17' bass boat, full uhaul trailer, and been pulled out of a mud hole with my bior bumper. I love it, the build quality is fantastic.

Official answer from Bump It Offroad/Mike is that it is too expensive to get it certified for a tow rating, so all he could say was that he recommend that I not tow with it (for liability reasons).

Thanks for everyone's input. Sounds like I shouldn't worry too much.

This is the exact answer you will get from Slee Offroad about their bumper.

I even asked Slee for a non exact, but what he thought the bumper would be capable of, his answer was "no comment".

To maintain the tow rating I had Mike build the bumper and kept the receiver hitch with 5K rating. My receiver is higher up than the spare so doesn't really matter due to its design. Some receiver hang below the spare. I try to post brand/ pics next week.

I have LARGE cargo baskets for family camping/storage items on both my swing outs and spare has to stay under. We are setup for expedition not rock crawling.

got mine from mike 2 weeks ago still sitting in my garage waiting for a warm nice new jersey day to do the install.

cant wait

anyone in the ny nj area who wants to give me a hand with the install and see how it goes is surely welcome
