Are there any suppliers out there that sell bulk oil? I would love to be able to just keep a couple 5qt jugs of oil around and when I use them go get them refilled. Between my five cars I change a lot of oil and I don't like tossing those jugs in the garbage. Might not exist, but just thought I would ask here since there are decades of collective wisdom. Seems like you should be able to go to a shop and just have them refill them from one of their drums (for a fee of course).

The dealership and the mines I worked at all used bulk oil from huge tanks. We used metered nozzles to get what we needed and the shop billed the customer's work order. I never saw any customers come in for it or even ask for a jug refill. Maybe a dealership might? Maybe a Walmart service garage or local quick lube?

Otherwise, if you want bulk you probably have to buy bulk. I know guys that buy pallets of 5 gallon buckets or get it in drums.

Let us know if you find a place that does.

Never heard of refilling small jugs from a business.

You can speak to your local oil distributors and get pricing on larger quantities.

I buy 55 gallon drums and pump into smaller containers.

Just got my first 55 gal drums of 15w40 and 90wt yesterday (was buying 90wt in 5 gal pails for the last few years). It was pretty simple math in terms of economy of both the oil cost and our time savings running to the store to buy oil every time. Especially since we use the same engine and gear oil in everything (Cruiser-only shop)
Come on down to FL and I'd be happy to fill your 5 gal pail for $20/gal 😁

your most likely going to have to get a 55 gal drum to get bulk refills from an oil company, i dont see them sending out a tank truck to fill a few gallons. another option would be get a 5 gal pail or two when they go on sale

Mind sharing what you’re using ? We buy 55 gallon drums for our def and hydro oil on the ranch, so would be nice to just get the cruiser oil also in a 55 g drum.

Sinopec.

Am I missing something, 20+ years, 2 motors and havent gone thru a dozen qts of oil & maybe 2 dozen qts of 90 wt but thats cause I change the diff, trans, & tcase every couple years.

Just an oil change here and there it sounds like

In my case we work on ~55-70 cruisers a year at my shop. We go through a TON of 90wt.

Well then for those who are around 90wt more than me, has anyone found a way to get rid of that smell, it gets in my hair, pillow, clothes, just threw out a gazebo cover that was exp cause it got a spot of 90wt and when on gazebo the whole yard smelt, I HATE that smell more than mud. Does the synthetic 90wt smell too ?

I love that smell. Crack a 50 year old gearbox open and I'm in heaven!

Prevention is key.
don’t spill oil everywhere

I dont care if you go surgical, body suit, gloves, mask, your still gonna smell like 90wt, it permeates the air and soaks in like cigarette smoke.
