Built On Tuesday!

So , I decided to make a trip back home for the summer to the place where I grew up ; Nova scotia. I've been doing quite a bit of westcoast wheelin' over the years but mostly with 40's . Since I wanted to be as comfortable as I could I elected to buy a 60 . So the search began... i found one a friend of mine had owned for the past 10 years or so .It was an 85 BJ 60 witha 3b h55 and about 400,000 kms. It also has an AXT turbo on it and a fairly new set of OME 2-1/2 " lift spirings. I live on Vancouver Island so all in all it will be about a 13000km trip give ot take few . Here are a few pics to get started with.

We left Van. Island on fri the 22nd of june and travelled to Salt Spring Island. Stayed the weekend and then went into vancouver on monday . We had a few things to do so we couldn't hit the road until about 5:00 pm. We made it to Kamloops and decided to stay there for the night. The next day we drove to Strathmore a little town just past Calgary. Next we headed to Drumheller to go to the museum and see the hoo doos , pretty impressive .Anyone who has kids and gets anywhere near there should go check it out. Couple of more pics. Made it to winnipeg or just south of . Was having some weird temp guage issues on the hills so I decided to get a new waterpump and better water temp sender . Also adjusted the toe in and rebuilt the two tre's on the drag link. It seemed to be wandering a bit in the big ruts from the trucks. We'll probably stay here for a week or two so I may get a chance to do a couple of more little projects done on the cruiser.

I'll get some more pics up later. I put the new waterpump in today and also resealed the side cover gasket on my 3b .Way easier with the turbo manifold than with a stock manifold. (had to do it twice , first time it leaked) I had removed the waste gate in Saskatchewan because my egt's were high at about 10lbs boost. So I jacked up the boost to 14lbs and it seems better now . More air flow I guess . Rig is running good right now .Thinking about picking up a small lightweight travel trailer. Don't have to be back in B.C. until Sept. so hotels could maybe add up a bit.

where are you headed in NS? sounds like a nice trip to do in a leisurely fashion, when I did it there was kind of a mad dash approach happening.

Decided to make a new rear bumper while I was at my mother inlaw's . Found a bit of steel around the farm and borrowed a mig welder . It mounts to the truck through the three rivet holes in the frame on either side . I guess the tabs could have been a little thicker but It's better than the other one .

Nice bumper. You can get more done on a day of vacation than I can get done in a week!

How's she running? A little better after the tune-up? Call me when you get a chance.

I did detail the runner, vacume interior, under body wash and engine wash. I cut a dash out last night too. Not the 4 runner's...

made it to Thunder bay yesterday .Pretty uneventful , Made it to Espanola today .We are going to take the ferry across the lake tomorrow and then head to Guelph Ont. to see my family. Odo rolled by 400,000 Kms today got a pic I'll post up later.
