I got a rear 60, I want to narrow it and offset the diff to match my front. The curent 60 width is 65 WMS and my front 44 is 59 WMS, so to off set do I just cut 6 inches off the passenger side and weld a new end on and be done? Or is there some kind of jig I need, or what i dont know please help.
 
A jig will be needed to make sure that the axle shaft lines up properly..

That's what I did. Moser short side was ~$150.00 (mine's a FF 8 lug). I assume yours' is a semi floater 6 lug? Or, you can sleeve the tube & press in the short side like the PO did on this 14 bolt:
