Never been around in the bike section much but I figured it appropriate since I am building a fixie to ride on campus with. My 21 speed Giant Cypress Hybrid is a little over-kill for campus.

For the Fixie, so far I have:

My Dad's old Raleigh 10 speed frame. (Painted Grey)

Sugino BB, 68x103

Silver Eighth-Inch Crank

Silver ZMC Chain

Black Vuelta Wheels.

And a green seat. (story behind that thing haha)

Chain is off because my tool broke. Stupid walmart tool. My fault for doing that at 11 o'clock at night I guess though.

I plan to install a front brake, and the gearing right now is 46/16, should be fine. I'll get some cages for the pedals too. Gotta run this thing right. I know how dangerous these things can be.

A lot of the parts came from eBay, the only things that didn't are the frame and seat. The wheels I got from my brother who now has White Deep-V's.

About the green seat: My older brother used the bike in college, and one day he walked over to his bike and someone had taken his nice seat and put that hunk of junk on there. Figured I'll use it until I feel like wasting money on another haha.

Cool. Make sure to put a reliable brake. Safety first. The geometry of this bike is a bit too aggressive for a fixie (the chain stay feels long). But that's just from the picture, I don't know the actual feel from riding. Hey, it is a good start. I am sure it'll be fine for campus.

If it is your first experience for fixie, make sure you play around in an parking lot to get your self familiar with the feel. It could be dangerous for a beginner. (ask me how I know :o)

Have fun!

It does feel pretty agressive when riding, but It feels just as good as my brothers' Schwinn Sprint does. I love the feel of riding it, so much more satisfying. And no crunch crunch of the gears. And the speed. whoa. haha

Here is before the front brake and toe clips. Testing it out. Some weird blue thing got in the photo :D

Here it is with toe clips and the front brake. The brake works pretty well. Because this bike had smaller wheels and tires previously, I had to use the rear brake on the front to grab on the braking surface. The front was too long, now its good.

I am gonna need to buy a beefier cage pedal. Those things are temporary.

Thanks for your comments wxm!

Send your weird blue thing over here, if you don't want it. :hillbilly:

I might keep it, its been in the family since before I was born! :D

That's odd. Most of the old roadies used 27" wheel which is bigger than the modern 700c. I usually have trouble that the old calipers are not long enough. Anyway, glad it worked out for you. Enjoy.

Was just kidding with your cruiser. It should definitely be a keeper... :steer:

This bike had a really weird tire size on it, partly why my Dad quit riding it. Couldn't find tires for it haha.

Newest photo of the Raleigh, I lowered my bars, and got some new beefier cage pedals. Having a lot of fun with it, practicing track stands occupy me when I get bored. Still working on skidding. I'll get it eventually :D

just curious is it a fixie or single speed I can't tell if it has a freewheel. By the way posing it with your Landie and in your Architecture classes rocks!
