Saw this today while at lunch, looked wicked cool.
4 wheel steering, portal axles and lots of steel.

Saw it on Gibson and then it headed north on San Mateo. Older guy driving it. It had an International Harvester emblem on the front, not sure if it was a Scout chassis or what.

It looked like a blast to wheel!

I saw that thing in ABQ like 3 weeks ago. Looks like a scorpion 4x4 chassis based on the suspension:

Welcom to the home of the Scorpion........

It looks like Spidertrax or Ballistic axle housings, and 42" IROKS. Sweet buggy forsure.

not portals, but 4wsteer. Definitely could be a scorpion rig. Sonny, the original scorpion designer/builder moved from Arkansas up to Chama several years ago, IIRC, so quite possibly one of his builds.

That's the same sonny I'm thinking of???

Most talented man alive then.

I've seen a rig that sure looks like that in Chama that was Sonny's, but it was green. May have been repainted to match his truck though.

sonny honneger or something like that, yep that's him in chama. who knows if that's his rig or just one of his builds. spurred the buggy fad for sure, had some very cool engineering. he's built them with cummins diesels, too.

It is "Soni" with an i. ;)

Dan is this the truck that you are are thinking of?

Soni's Tow Rig

That's it.

I know I've seen pictures of it lugging the 315 around (it's the old C-16 steam locomotive that used to sit in the park in Durango--for those of you who aren't up on your narrow gauge locomotives), talk about cool.
